TEDIndia Fellow: Kavita Baliga
IDEAS WORTH SPREADING:
Out of hundreds of applicants, Kavita Baliga was selected to be a 2009 TEDIndia fellow. The first TED conference ever to be held in Asia, TEDIndia will be exploring new ideas, inventions and concepts to promote change, and a better world.
The theme: The Future Beckons.
Joining Kavita will be a whirlwind of new entrepreneurs and innovators including Rohini Rau, India's first female national champion in the sport of sailing, Siddharth Kara, author of Sex Trafficking: The Business of Modern Slavery, and Jane Chen, Co-Founder of Embrace, a social enterprise designing and deploying a low cost infant warmer.
Kavita has been recognized for being an operatic singer, pianist, choir conductor, recording artist, painter, photographer, chef, the co-founder of Uplifted: Art Perpetuating Hope; an organization that uses art to promote social change,women's rights activist, and cancer-survivor.
