FOR YOUR GRAMMY® CONSIDERATION

KAVITA BALIGA | OH, DESIRE

BEST ASIAN POP MUSIC PERFORMANCE

BEST ARRANGEMENT, INSTRUMENTS AND VOCALS

Oh, Desire is a study in restraint, written, produced and performed by Kavita Baliga, mixed by Grammy®-winning engineer Kevin "KD" Davis and mastered by 22x multi Grammy®-nominated engineer Chris Gehringer at Sterling Sound. In an era of maximalist pop, this track embraces the whisper — a classically trained soprano held at close-mic intimacy, hushed electronics, live guitars by Ethan Forrest, and a bed of orchestral texture that swells and never breaks.

It is a song about appetite, and about what appetite costs. Desire is the most alive a person can feel; the closest thing we have to being fully awake - and it is the same force that takes people apart, slowly and then all at once, long after they have stopped being able to tell the difference between wanting and needing. Oh, Desire refuses to separate the ecstasy from the wreckage, because they are the same thing. The title also carries a second meaning — one Baliga has chosen to keep for herself.

Kevin "KD" Davis and Chris Gehringer's work has defined the sound of modern popular music; from era-defining R&B to Rihanna and Lana Del Rey. Oh, Desire was finished to that same standard, with atmospheric guitar from Ethan Forrest. The record rests entirely on the vocal: no features, no chorus to hide behind, and everyone who touched it made the same choice — leave the voice exposed.

"Oh, Desire is the most honest song I've made," says Baliga. "I spent twenty years serving other people's music. This one is wholly mine; written during one of the hardest stretches of my life, and it holds the truth about what desire can be."

The single released on all streaming platforms worldwide on April 19, 2026, and has been submitted for consideration at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards® in Best Asian Pop Music Performance, and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals.
